Good morning to all from Washington, DC. Today OIG posts three reports. As always, you can use the links provided to go directly to the new material. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Medicare Overpaid Some Fiscal Year 2008 and 2009 Jurisdiction 13 Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility Claims That Did Not Comply With Transfer Regulations (A-04-11-00079) http://go.usa.gov/dlK Medicare overpaid some fiscal year 2009 claims that did not comply with Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility transfer regulations. National Government Services, Inc., the Medicare Administrative Contractor for Jurisdiction 13, incorrectly paid 60 transfer claims as discharges. As a result, Medicare overpaid 26 facilities by $413,000 for fiscal years 2008 and 2009. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Review of Virginia’s Buy-In of Medicare Part B Premiums for Medicaid Beneficiaries from January 2008 Through December 2009 (A-03-10-00201) http://go.usa.gov/dlZ The Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services (State agency) generally claimed a Federal share for Medicare Part B premiums it paid on behalf of Medicaid beneficiaries in accordance with Federal requirements. However, the State agency incorrectly claimed $16,000 (Federal share) for 19 beneficiaries. This occurred because the State agency’s Medicaid Management Information System reports did not accurately identify the proper buy-in codes for some beneficiaries under the Railroad Retirement system and the State agency did not correct, or have the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services correct, the errors. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hawaii Claimed Unallowable Medicaid Reimbursement for Nonemergency Medical Transportation Services Furnished by Taxi Providers (A-09-11-02047) http://go.usa.gov/dl8 The Hawaii Department of Human Services (State agency) did not always comply with Federal and State requirements when claiming Federal Medicaid reimbursement for nonemergency medical transportation services furnished by taxi providers. Specifically, the State agency improperly claimed Federal reimbursement of $495,000. In addition, the State agency did not correctly report on the Form CMS-64 the amount of taxi expenditures that were eligible for Federal reimbursement. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ That’s all we have for today.
