House for rent in Clarendon Park area Posted: 22 Aug 2012 01:09 PM PDT Fantastic 3 bed house to rent on Bulwer Road. Modern house with period features. Part furnished (Double beds, wardrobes, desks and chairs and chest of drawers in each room) and white goods in kitchen. It has a gas hob and elecrtic fan oven. There is outdoor locked storage for bikes etc and a small garden so low maintenance. The house is in excellent condition. Stones throw from the Queens Road, full of bars, restaurants, delis and shops. There is a local Sainsburys on the Queens Road. 10-15 mins walk from the Medical School. Walking distance from the LRI. It is within easy reach of the motorway also so easy for commuting when out on placements. For further details and to arrange a viewing please either reply here or call Peter on: 07735622476
HELP! MSc and Medical Degree at the same time, university problems. Posted: 22 Aug 2012 08:30 AM PDT I am slightly concerned after a meeting i had with a staff member at my university. I am studying medicine (accelerated course) and i am returning this september to my studies after some time off due to illness. In this time off (8months) i registered for a part time Masters in Medical Education, i believe i am actually registered on the first part of the course the Certificate (PG Cert in Medical Educaton). I have been informed that my university may not allow me to do this, but obviously i registered whilst i was not official part of my medical school. Anyway i am returning in september and i was wondering if anybody could help me out with regards to regulations and what my rights are, am i allowed to study a part time MSc and my medical degree at the same time? Does it depend on the regulations of the university? What might the potential ramifications be? As i have already paid for my PG Cert, and obviously want to get my medical degree! If anybody has any idea at all i would really appreciate it. Thanks!
Application to Cambridge Clinical School Posted: 22 Aug 2012 08:10 AM PDT Hi there, Please allow me to explain my situation first: I'm originally an undergraduate medical student from Imperial College, and having finished my 4th year of studies there (earning me an intercalated BSc in Medical Science with Neuroscience), I'm currently undertaking a PhD at Oxford, as part of Imperial's MB/PhD scheme. The current plan is for me to return to Imperial after 3 years (once my PhD is done) to finish my remaining 2 years of medical training. And I'm aware that several London schools have this "Metropolitan Oxbridge Common Admissions Group (MOCAG)" agreement with Oxbridge due to high number of Oxbridge students having to transfer to a different clinical school due to a restricted number of places. But from what I've been told, Cambridge Clinical School has accepted students from London in the past, so I was wondering if it were still possible for me to apply to Cambridge for Clinical Medicine once I'm done with my PhD at Oxford instead of going back to Imperial? In this case I'd be spending one more year than at Imperial, but I very much prefer the town of Cambridge as opposed to London, so I wouldnt mind spending one extra year training. Is this possible at all? Does Cambridge Clinical School consider applicants from Imperial? If yes, what are the procedures for applying, and what sort of things are required for admission? Would my PhD help? Thanks! LightElf7.
Posted: 22 Aug 2012 07:22 AM PDT Hello all, I have completed a couple of shadowing experiences in geriatrics and paediatrics but would very much like to shadow nurses or consultants at a psychiatric ward, as psychiatry is one of the specialities I am strongly considering post-med school. It has been hard to obtain experience thus far because of the risk factors inherent in these wards, but can anyone direct me to a centre that would be open to a mature student shadowing? I would be much obliged. Regards DS.
Posted: 22 Aug 2012 07:17 AM PDT So I got a letter last Thursday from Glasgow asking if I was still interested in a place as they 'may' have an offer and I am in the cohort of candidates that 'narrowly missed out on an offer' post interview. Anyone else got a letter like this?? I'm going insane with anticipation :(
Does the grad school accept international degrees? Posted: 22 Aug 2012 05:47 AM PDT I've yet to apply for a BSc program and am planning to apply for Mcgill/Toronto in Canada or Melbourne/UQ in Australia. (I intend on going to medical school but not directly) Was always a dream of mine to study at Oxford so does anyone know if the Oxford grad medical school accepts bio degrees (2:1 or 1) from these schools/countries? Would these be a disadvantage when applying? Thanks
