| Information for You & Your Community: More Youth Use Tobacco Than You May Think As summer winds down and kids head back to school, FDA's Center for Tobacco Products (CTP) will feature new youth-related content on our website each week. This week, we're focusing on youth tobacco use and the resulting health consequences. Today, more than 600,000 middle school students and 3 million high school students smoke cigarettes. In fact, use of multiple tobacco products—including cigarettes, cigars, and smokeless tobacco—is common among young people. The instant a child begins using a tobacco product, that child’s health declines greatly.
