anyone understood how to solve the mono and disubstituted benzene qts on the purple acer practice test?
Cannot understand how structure 3 has only 1 monosubstituted isomer.explanations anyone?

I tried the GAMSAT in Sept and Section 2 brought my marks down (a 52). I believe it was because I wrote a more discursive and analytical approach to the quotes. I am trying to write a more argumentative style to the essay. So any critical help would be grateful.

The fear of failure

Humans are animals. Therefore like animals, when we are presented with a fear, we can react in one of three ways. Two of them are flight and flight. Both terms express actions. The last option is to do nothing, a point when we are griped with fear. These 3 options can be correlated to when we are presented with tough decisions. Often in the modern world, the wrong option of doing nothing is taken, as Bertard Russel explains, when he stated “the central problem of our age is how to act to decisively in the absence of certainty”.

There is a counter belief, that the most effective way to come to a solution is to take the time to deliberate over the decision. During the course of history rash decisions and actions have lead to ineffective resolutions. Recently, the Euro (currency) has been saved because the time taken to make the right choice. Leaders of countries like England and Germany took months in deciding the right plan of action in solving the financial crisis which hit countries like Spain, Italy and Greece. Evidence that the right choice was taken, has be shown by the upturn in Spain’s economy, with Spanish citizens starting show trust in their banks by purchasing bonds.

Nonetheless, it can be detrimental not to take quick and decisive actions. It is often by facing our problems that we find the resolutions. World War 2 is a great example of how quick decisive action would have saved thousands of lives. If the world had reacted to the threat posed by the German, in carrying out ethnic cleansing, maybe the holocaust wouldn't have happened. This indecision is still being seen in modern day with the ethnic cleansing of the Tutsi clan in Rawanda. It shows by humans shying away from taking actions, we shy away from our responsibility of saving humans rights and liberties.

In conclusion, we can see that taking the time to discuss and come up with the right choice would be perfect. However humans aren't perfect. We are fallible and therefore liable to make mistakes. Furthermore, as long as we learn from making mistakes, a mistake is worth having. Therefore the fear of making a mistake should not stop us from taking the course of action. Because, it’s the inability of taking quick action, that we often put human rights and liberties at risk.

Selling all my gamsat preparation material

Hi, I'm selling my complete set of Gamsat home preparation notes as well as advice on the exam (I sat it twice and scored quite high the second sitting) including:

-Gradmed Full course notes- 7 books covering Organic chem, Phys Chem, Physics, Biology, Sec 2 written communication, Simulated gamsat tests for section I, Simulated gamsat questions for sec III, and maths for gamsat.

-Des O'Neill Science course, including notes for all aspects of section III, biochemistry, physics, org chem, etc. also, over a hundred practice questions included.

-Ozimed simulated gamsat tests 1-5, excellent for getting accustomed to the layout and style of the exam. The questions are the most similar to the actual acer gamsat questions that I came across.

-MediRed course, including 2 booklets covering all 3 sections of the exam. The written section is covered very well in these notes I found.

I also have some excellent and hard to find PDFs of Gamsat preparation material, strategy, hints for essay writing. Also, I have the Acer papers I can send on if wanted.

The notes are all in good condition with very few pen marks. Local pickup preferable but I would post them for 10 pounds extra to ireland or UK. Living in Dublin.
