Single mum with an offer for med school, looking for advice before I accept

Posted: 11 Apr 2013 12:39 PM PDT

Hi there, putting the feelers out to get some feedback from other single parents at med school. I have been offered a place to start this autumn and I have a two year old son.

He can be prone to getting tonsillitis and although my parents will be an hours drive away so they can help out if he is sick on a weekday, if they are abroad for example it may mean I have to take a day here or there off from uni with a sick child. Does anyone have any light to shed on this as to how supportive the med schools have been in similar situations? I know they expect a 100 percent attendance and realistically I may end up more at about 95 percent going on previous years with my son getting poorly.

Also when it comes to clinical placements, if you have to pick your child up as the nursery/school shuts and they are running over/late are they accepting of your predicament and let you dash off a little before the other students at the end of the day?

any experiences or advice are very thankfully received as I have to make my decision soon.

Thank you very much

Hi all,

I'm selling the Kaplan UKCAT course book and 5 practice papers and some other books for the UKCAT and BMAT I have collected along the way.

I've put them on ebay and the links are below.

They are all in good condition, but are used.

They were really helpful and I achieved an average score of 760 in the UKCAT.

PM or post any questions on here.

Thanks!
