FDA to Hold Additional Public Meetings on FSMA Proposed Rule to Address Intentional Adulteration of Food

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is announcing two additional public meetings on the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) FSMA Proposed Rule for Focused Mitigation Strategies to Protect Food Against Intentional Adulteration. These meetings are the second and third in a series of meetings announced in the December 20, 2013 Federal Register Notice and on FDA’s FSMA website.

The purpose of the meetings is to discuss the proposed rule to require domestic and foreign food facilities that are required to register under the Federal Food Drug, and Cosmetic Act (the FD&C Act) to address hazards that may be intentionally introduced by acts of terrorism. FDA is proposing these requirements as part of the implementation of the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). The meetings are also designed to solicit oral stakeholder and other public comments on the proposed rule, inform the public about the rulemaking process (including how to submit comments, data and other information to the rulemaking docket), and respond to questions about the proposed rule.
