Cosmetics Content on FDA.gov Reorganized

March 25, 2014

FDA’s Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN) has reorganized the cosmetics content of the FDA website to make it easier for consumers and other stakeholders to navigate the site and find the information they are looking for about cosmetics.

Visitors to the website will see changes in the “Navigate the Cosmetics Section” box on the http://www.fda.gov/cosmetics homepage, with new section titles that group cosmetics-related web content into logical categories intended to help users locate needed information more quickly.  New resources have also been added.

For example, Guidance & Regulation, Compliance & Enforcement, Science & Research, and Registration now are separate sections, as indicated under “Navigate the Cosmetics Section” on the Cosmetics homepage.

Users will find new pages for special audiences, such as health-care professionals, salon professionals, and small businesses, in addition to an expanded page of resources for consumers. See the Resources for You section.

Navigation has been simplified in the Products & Ingredients section, and new pages have been added on topics such as soaps and lotions, anti-aging products, and fragrances.

CFSAN is interested in what consumers and other users have to say about the site’s new organization. Questions or recommendations about the site can be submitted using the Food and Cosmetics Information Center (FCIC) Inquiry Form
