HNC Goddess wanting to do medicine

Posted: 13 Mar 2014 08:14 AM PDT

Hi guys so i not the only one who passion is medicine. I did BTEC in sciences got DD (dad died ongoing all through gcses to alevel - alot of upheaval - give my self a break i got 2 Alevels D grade in 6 months when rejoined course once everything settled down.

SO i got into Physiotherapy (alot lower grades accepted to circumstances out of my control) and without GCSE mathematics C grade which was one of criteria they wanted, they let me into join course. basically became ill(mentally) and struggled to do clinical experiences, failed few exams - resit and passed all accept one module(which i never went to lectures), went through fitness to practice (got kicked out of university) and i did appeal.Made lots of wrong decisions being young and naive.

I got a place on a part time bio medicine course to see how i do, need to pass mathematics exam in august and show certificates - HNC rehabilitation of patients and HNC in Natural sciences from the open university with an amazing reference. so 2 x HNC i got 1st year of a degree absolutely useless and been working since as a Customer services agent while i decide what on earth i am doing with my life i am now 29.

I have a place from september to redo GCSE mathematics(personal passion to get a A-C grade and Bio-medicine from september. basically sent application with previous education with GCSES 5-A-C - alevels eqiv DD and 2 x HNC and debt still from previous courses

any advice on anything would be appreciative, my idea was bio medical sciences to get my science up to standard so therefore i walk in with 2.1- hopefully a First, maybe possible if i can ever find a college doing Alevels in chemistry biology to do them for the first time properly

(main concern fitness to practise i was told by admission officers 10years before applying as it stays on your record for life but this was radiography and was told this in 2008. Young and naive for ya)

Hello let's start an MCAT Practice Questions thread. Here's the first question.

A student throws a rock at a 60° angle over a lake. The rock leaves his hand at a velocity of 20 m/s. How far away from the student will the rock shadow appear on the ground after 1 second, assuming the shadow projects straight down from the rock?
A) 5 m
B) 7 m
C) 10 m
D) 12 m

Gradmed course advice

Hi guys,

I'm new to the forum after having been a spectator for some time, and would really appreciate some help.
I was looking to do the GAMSAT this September after having failed to get into any medical schools for 2014 entry, and as a non-science graduate I've been looking at materials and courses available to prepare for the exam, and stumbled upon the Gradmed course online. I've seen on other threads that people are very critical of the course however I was wondering if anyone who has actually been on the course found that it actually helped them with their preparation?
- Also any other help regarding what materials would be best for self study would be great

Thanks,
T
