Thank you A2M, completed med school!

Posted: 09 Mar 2014 04:27 AM PDT

7 years ago I came to this site and sought assistance with my access course interview and tests.

The people here helped me considerably and A2M has changed my life in a huge way.

From a young boy I wanted to be a doctor but due to my schooling and lack of belief, I ruled it out. At age 26, I realised that I could mould my life and the world around me, I just had to simply....do it.

I did my A2M in Manchester, then at age 27 I started med school, now 33 I have finished. It is never too late people!

I owe a huge thank you to this site, to Dr Phillipou, to MANCAT A2M.

For everyone considering access or working hard in it right now, stick it out... it works xxx

All the best to you future doctors x

Mamba

Hi all,

I started a facebook group for gem offer holders this year, just in case there are any people floating around on here :) https://www.facebook.com/groups/293617757457893/

Funding for Graduates - Have I got this right?

Posted: 08 Mar 2014 11:20 AM PST

Trying to wrap my head around funding. I understand they have just secured it for 2015/2016 and it may change afterwards but is this right?

4-year Course

Year 1: £3465 paid by me + £5535 by student finance
Also maintenance loan (non means tested?) - not sure what causes the variation if it's not means tested?

Years 2-4: NHS pay £3465 + Student Finance (£5535)
Reduced maintenance loan (50%)
NHS grant - £1000 (non means tested)
Means tested NHS bursary (0-5000)

Can't get student maintenance grant

5-year course

Years 1-4: £9000 paid by me

No tuition fee loan or student finance? Does this include the maintenance loan, or can graduates on 5 year still get maintenance loan?

Year 5: NHS + Student Finance (tuition fees)
Reduced maintenance loan
NHS grant £1000
Means tested NHS bursary?

Thanks for help!
