The Division of Drug Information (DDI) is CDER's focal point for public inquiries. We serve the public by providing information on human drug products and drug product regulation by FDA.
The Food and Drug Administration Safety and Innovation Act (FDASIA), passed by Congress in 2012, provided new authorities for FDA to manage drug shortages. The pharmacists in FDA's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER), Office of Communications (OCOMM), Division of Drug Information (DDI) prepared an online video that discusses the management of drug shortages and how the FDA’s role has changed in recent years. This video is part of FDA Drug Info Rounds, a series of training videos for practicing clinical and community pharmacists.
