HHS Announces $30 Million in Consumer Assistance Program GrantsOn June 7th, HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced that an additional $30 million in Consumer Assistance Program (CAP) Grants will be issued to state-based consumer assistance programs. CAP grant funds will allow states to continue to establish programs that help consumers navigate the health insurance market. State agencies and local non-profits contracted by a state are eligible for these new grants, including those that received resources from the initial round of CAP grants. ACF Guide to Resources and Funding for Community and Faith-based OrganizationsOn Thursday, June 21st from 1-2pm Eastern, the HHS Partnership Center and the Administration for Children and Families will co-host a webinar/conference call for faith and community leaders on ACF’s new Guide to Resources and Funding for Community and Faith-based Organizations. The guide offers an overview of the wide range of programs and resources provided by ACF, basic information about finding and applying for federal funds, specific information about ACF’s grant opportunities, and numerous resources and toolkits available for any community or faith-based organization. AIDS.gov Webinar/Conference Call On Tuesday, June 26th from 2-3pm Eastern, AIDS.gov will host a webinar/conference call for federal staff, grantees, and stakeholders working with domestic HIV/AIDS programs. The event will provide an update on the state of HIV/AIDS in the U.S with some of the U.S. Government's leading voices on HIV/AIDS. It is important to review the funding announcement thoroughly to ensure that the grant opportunity is one that is appropriate to your organization’s mission, size, and scope.
Grants Listings
Title: Mental and Behavioral Health Education and Training Grants
Description: The purpose of this award aims to increase the number of social workers and psychologists who pursue clinical work with high-need and high-demand populations. The program hopes to (1) recruit new students interested in pursuing a clinical concentration with identified special populations, (2) develop and implement interprofessional training, (3) add to existing, expand and/or foster the development of new pre-degree internship slots for PhD/PsyD psychology students or field placements for MSW students, and (4) provide stipend support for students for the required field placement or pre-degree internship requirements.
Eligibility: Eligible applicants are accredited schools and programs of social work, and accredited doctoral psychology schools, programs and pre-degree internship organizations (public and private nonprofit). Applicants for the social work program must be accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Psychology schools, programs, and internship organizations must be accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA). Applicants must provide the appropriate documentation of accreditation with their application.

Title: National Child Traumatic Stress Initiative Category II, Treatment and Services Adaptation
Description: The purpose of this award aims at improving treatment and services for children and adolescents who have experienced traumatic events. The grants also promote greater access to effective trauma-focused treatment and services for children and adolescents and help support the specialized adaptation of effective treatment and service approaches for communities across the nation.
Eligibility: Domestic public and private nonprofit entities. State and local governments, federally recognized American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) Tribes and tribal organizations, urban Indian organizations, public or private universities and colleges, community- and faith-based organizations.

Title: Transitional Living Program and Maternity Group Homes
Description: The purpose of this award is to aid entities that have experience in providing shelter and services to runaway, homeless or street youth as required by the RHY Act. Eligible applicants will need to describe how they sufficiently demonstrate having prior experience in providing services to runaway, homeless or street youth.
Eligibility: Eligible applicants include public and non-profit private entities including States, localities, and coordinated networks of such entities. State and local governments, federally recognized American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) Tribes and tribal organizations, urban Indian organizations, public or private universities and colleges, community- and faith-based organizations.

Title: Promise Neighborhoods Program Planning Grant Competition CDFA 84.215P
Description: The purpose of this award is to significantly improve the educational and developmental outcomes of children and youth in our most distressed communities, and to transform those communities, by increasing the number of organizations involved in child and youth issues, building continuum of cradle-through-college-to-career solutions, integrating programs, developing local infrastructure, and learning further about the Promise Neighborhoods program.
Eligibility: Organizations that are representative of the geographic area proposed to be served; nonprofit organization that meets the definition of a nonprofit under 34 CFR 77.1(c), which may include a faith-based nonprofit organization, an institution of higher education as defined by section 101(a) of the Higher Education Act of 1965, an Indian tribe; currently provides at least one of the solutions from the applicant’s proposed continuum of solutions in the geographic area proposed to be served; and Operates or proposes to work with and be involved in carrying out its proposed project, in coordination with the school’s local education agency, at least one public elementary or secondary school that is located within the identified geographic area that the grant will serve.
Funding: Estimated 15 awards and $7,000,000 in total awards.

Title: Obesity Policy Research: Evaluation and Measures
Description: The overarching goal of this FOA is to inform public policy and research relevant to (1) diet and physical activity behavior, and (2) weight and health outcomes of Americans. This grant opportunity encourages applicants to: (1) conduct evaluation research on obesity-related natural experiments (defined here as community and other population-level public policy interventions that may affect diet and physical activity behavior), and/or (2) develop and/or validate relevant community-level measures (instruments and methodologies to assess the food and physical activity environments at the community level).
Eligibility: Non-profit organizations with or without 501(c)(3) status are encouraged to apply. The opportunity is also available to various governmental entities, local organizations, for-profit groups and small businesses.

Description: The purpose of this grant opportunity is to bring together academic institutions/organizations and community organizations to identify opportunities for addressing health disparities through the use of Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR).
