UKCAT - How exactly does each uni use it for GEP? Posted: 29 Aug 2013 03:40 AM PDT Hiiii! I am an Anatomical Science graduate (1st) from Uni of Manchester, but do not have A Level Chemistry. I recently did my UKCAT and acheived VR - 620 QR - 630 AR - 690 DA - 880 Average - 705 Total - 2820 Choices: Warrick, Barts, Newcastle and Kings?! My top choice is Warrick, but should I be worried that they look at individual scores, seeing as VR and QR aren't that great? I know Barts look at the total rather than individual sections and the cut off was 2820 last year, so thats okay. Does anyone know anything about Newcastle and whether they use total, average or individual? Does anyone know if Kings look at indivual scores? I realise 705 if probably a reeeally low for Kings but I have 1 space left and its the only 1 left that I can apply to due to my lack of chemistry. I know Imperial look at individual scores, so thats a definite no! Any help would be much appreciated! Aileen x |
Posted: 28 Aug 2013 03:51 PM PDT I am about to start my A-Levels and am planning to take Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Geography. I would like to study Medicine at Oxford; I am aware that the entry requirments state that mathematics is not compulsory, however I was wondering if you were more likely to favour students who took mathematics at A-Level. Someone told me that Oxford does not accept students who do not study mathematics at A-Level and this concerned me. If I were to take mathematics, I would take it instead of physics. For my GCSEs I attained 6A*s and 5As, the sciences and maths being some of those subjects I earned an A* in. Thank you. |

Posted: 28 Aug 2013 06:29 AM PDT Hi I got my GCSE results: 4A's(Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Physics), 4B's (English Language, English Literature, Geography and RE) + 1D in French + 2 distinctions They are terrible but if I work hard in AS level and A levels and get like 2A* and 1A, do you think I stand a chance. I'm doing Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Physics in a levels and I'm determined to work hard. Do you think I might be able to get into any one of these's Universities for medicine: Keele, Imperial, Leeds and Leicester? But I really want to get into Imperial! So badly! |
What deaneries will let you live in London? Posted: 28 Aug 2013 06:04 AM PDT Hey guys, My girlfriend is currently about to do her foundation years and we're trying to live together in London. She's told me London deanery is usually over-picked so hard to get into and so we were wondering if there was an alternative solution. My question is, is there a deanery that she can go to to: 1) Live ANYWHERE in London and travel to work to that deanery within an hour. 2) A deanery that is around 30 minutes away from London (example Reading) 3) A location that is an hour away from the deanery and half an hour away from London (example Oxford Deanery with us living in Reading) We both really want to live together and all my opportunities are in London (Computer Scientist) so she wants to apply to every deanery possible which will let us live together :) Thanks in advance for your responses! |
